A setback will see young Blue Mason Blakey on the sidelines in the coming weeks.
Playing for Eltham last weekend, Blakey suffered a broken hand after landing from a marking contest.
Northern Blues High Performance Manager Steven Tiricola said the youngster would consult a surgeon in the coming days to confirm a timeframe for a return.
However, the news is better for a pair of Blues midfielders, who missed the opening game of the season against Port Melbourne a fortnight ago.
One of the Blues’ prime movers last season, Tim Jones has recovered after being struck down with illness.
Jake Bradley is also back in full training after an ankle injury hampered the latter stages of his pre-season.
Both look likely to be able for selection, either through VFL, Development or local football.
The Northern Blues take on Williamstown in a Development and VFL double-header this Saturday, with Development commencing from 11:30am. The senior game will then take place from 2:40pm, and will be broadcast live on Channel 7.
