A host of Carlton-listed players are in line to return to the Bertocchi 23 in the Northern Blues’ game with Sandringham on Saturday.
In a heavily extended squad of 31, Harry McKay, Rhys Palmer and Billie Smedts have all been named after missing last week’s win over Casey.
Simon White will also play his first game for Northern this season, after being omitted from the Carlton side to take on Fremantle on Sunday.
Also included on the bench are Nick Graham, Dale Thomas and Tom Williamson: they’ve been named on the extended Carlton bench with Dennis Armfield, Blaine Boekhorst, David Cuningham and Liam Jones.
The squad will be cut down tomorrow afternoon at 5pm in line with the final Carlton team announcement tomorrow.
Joining the inclusions are Glenn Strachan, Dyson Stevens (two of the best afield for Northern’s Development side last weekend) and confirmed debutant James Corboy as 23rd man.
There are 25 AFL-listed Blues named in the extended squad, meaning as many as 21 could feature for Northern on the weekend.
Coming out of the side which won last week is Jarrod Pickett, who is being managed.
In further positive news, Jesse Glass-McCasker will return via the Northern Blues Development side for the first time since suffering a fractured cheekbone in Round 2.
Exciting Northern youngsters Sam Fowler and Michael Romero have also been named to make their returns from their respective injuries.
The VFL match will be played this Saturday at Preston City Oval, in what is a crunch top-four clash: both sides have a 4-1 record heading into the Round 6 game. The Development game will precede it at 11am.
