Kane Keppel will miss the rest of the season after suffering a fractured fibula on the weekend.
Keppel was stretchered off in the third quarter of Saturday’s loss to Footscray, with scans confirming the news for the promising key position player.
The youngster has been a shining light in his debut season, playing his seventh senior game for the year on the weekend.
Having been stationed predominantly down back in his Blues career, Keppel added a string to his bow in recent weeks when partnering Kristian Jaksch up forward.
Northern Blues High Performance Manager Steven Tiricola confirmed that Bailey Jordan will also miss the rest of the year.
Jordan fractured his ankle playing local football when the Northern Blues Development side had a bye.
It’s a significant blow to Northern’s key position stocks, with Jordan in line for a senior recall after being in outstanding goal kicking form since moving to the forward line (14 goals in five games).
In other injury news, Daniel Costanzo faces a race against time to return to the fold this year, after suffering a hamstring strain in the loss to Port Melbourne. His forecasted return is 2-3 weeks.
