Cameron O’Shea’s phenomenal first season has been acknowledged with a spot in the VFL Team of the Year.
O’Shea was named at centre-half-back in the team at tonight’s J. J. Liston Trophy count.
His numbers and performances spoke for themselves in 2017, ranking number one in the entire VFL competition for marks and coming in second for effective kicks.
He proved himself to be a vital asset for Josh Fraser’s side this year, standing up on countless occasions in defence and averaging 23 disposals per game.
O’Shea was also one of the competition’s premier rebounders, getting his side going more often than anyone with his 83 rebound 50s (second in the VFL).
Arriving from Port Adelaide at the end of last season, O’Shea featured in every game for Northern, and was named in the best players by his coaches 14 times.
It was the second time in as many years that a Northern Blue has featured in the Team of the Year, with captain Tom Wilson named on the bench last year.
