The future has become the present at the Northern Blues, with three youngsters committing for the 2018 season at Preston City Oval.
Mason Blakey, Kane Keppel and Marcus Stavrou have all re-signed with the Blues for the next 12 months.
The trio arrived together at the club at this time last year, going onto enjoy impressive first seasons at Northern.
While all three are generally defenders by trade, they each have the ability to feature in multiple positions and have considerable development ahead of them.
Blakey’s impact was immediate on his way to winning the Oscar Lipson Trophy as the Blues’ Best Clubman.
He overcame injury in his first season to play the final six matches of the year, and has clear leadership qualities as the 2016 captain of the Northern Knights.
Another to deal with an unfortunately timed setback, Keppel has signed for another year at Northern after being named the club’s Best First-Year Player.
The key position prospect previously said his involvement with Northern’s program had seen him come along in “leaps and bounds” as he looks to take his game to another level.
Meanwhile, Stavrou played the most senior games of any first-year Northern Blue in 2017, with the highlight being his blistering start to life at the club.
Having just turned 19 in September, Stavrou spent time in the back-line learning off the likes of Liam Jones and Alex Silvagni, while also rubbing shoulders with some of the best midfielders in the competition.
