The Northern Blues have continued their off-season activity with the acquisition of Sam Fisher.
Spending 2017 on the rookie list of the Sydney Swans, Fisher is a crafty small forward who can also spend time in the midfield.
The left-footer enjoyed a strong season in the NEAFL with the Swans, averaging just shy of 23 disposals a week in his 19 games on the way to a Grand Final where they went down to Brisbane.
It was the second NEAFL Grand Final for Fisher in as many years, having played alongside the likes of Matt Kennedy and Harrison Macreadie in the 2016 premiership with GWS’ reserves side.
His ability to find the goals with his trusty left foot was evident when he kicked 25 goals for Sydney’s reserves side this year, including two lots of four goals.
He joins fellow AFL recruits Josh Hill and Jesse Palmer as new signings at Northern with the potential to play multiple roles.
Having spent the last few weeks training with his new teammates, Fisher will be looking to alternate his time between both forward and midfield throughout the 2018 season.
