Ben Caluzzi, Max Dreher and Jean-Luc Velissaris have signed with the Northern Blues.
The Northern Blues have confirmed a number of new signings for the 2018 season.
Ben Caluzzi, Max Dreher and Jean-Luc Velissaris have all committed their upcoming years to Northern.
The trio arrive at the club from the TAC Cup, with Caluzzi and Velissaris both coming from the Calder Cannons. Dreher adds to the Blues’ former Northern Knights contingent.
The three youngsters will be out to make an impression in an increasingly youthful and exciting Northern Blues playing list.
Caluzzi played predominantly across half-back with stints in the midfield for the Cannons, averaging 22 disposals a game. His main strength is his ability to find the football and distribute by foot.
An accumulator in his season at the Northern Knights, Dreher averaged 21 disposals for the TAC Cup side in his midfield role. His form saw him feature for Vic Metro, and like Caluzzi can also play in a number of positions.
Another dual-position player, Velissaris impressed for the Cannons in 2017 and will likely slot in at the Blues as a forward-midfielder. He has had a taste of senior VFL football with Coburg (two games), and kicked six goals in a single game last year in the Development competition.
They join fellow TAC Cup graduates Alex Federico, Ethan Penrith (both Northern Knights) and Jordan Lynch (Eastern Ranges) as new Blues from the country’s premier under-18 competition.
