The Northern Blues were put through their paces in Mt. Buller at their 2018 pre-season training camp.
Over the last weekend, Northern’s players, coaches and staff headed down to Mansfield for the chance to continue their progression to the 2018 season.
With a gruelling training block and bonding sessions both features, senior coach Josh Fraser said the weekend was highly beneficial.
“It was great to get away as a group, which you don’t really have the opportunity to do in the VFL: they certainly trained really hard on the Saturday,” Fraser told Northern Blues Media.
“Saturday night was a really good chance to get to know each other a bit better which we took full advantage of.
“Traditionally our camp has been a real highlight of our campaign so I’m sure we’ll build off the back of it.”
The coach also gave an extensive update on pre-season, saying the initial goals set out at the beginning of the summer hadn’t changed.
He reiterated that the Blues were wholly committed to widespread improvement across the season.
“If we’re not in that frame of mind, we’re wasting our time — the last two years have been establishing culture and standards and locking down our game plan,” Fraser said.
“We’d like to think we’re ahead of that process now and we’re keen to get into games and test ourselves against quality opposition.
“We’re as hungry as ever: as coach, I’m determined to make sure we’re successful and we’re assembling a list that makes us think we can do that.”
