Jordan Johnston and Matthew Harman have joined an expanding TAC Cup group at the Northern Blues.
The Northern Blues have officially welcomed Matthew Harman and Jordan Johnston to their playing list in 2018.
The duo have signed on at the Blues in their first season outside the TAC Cup, arriving from the Northern Knights and Greater Western Victoria Rebels respectively.
Their signings make it eight players which the Blues have directly recruited from the competition ahead of the 2018 season.
A natural forward, Johnston has no shortage of x-factor and knows where the goals are, kicking 46 goals from 30 games with the Rebels over two years.
A Vic Country representative last year, Johnston’s ability to impact games was never more evident than his seven and six-goal performances against Sandringham (2016) and the Eastern Ranges (2017).
His goalscoring ability and flair in the forward line has been evident in Northern’s pre-season, impressing over the summer and in the Blues’ intra-club.
A ruckman who had a taste of Blues action last year, Harman joins fellow Knights graduates Max Dreher, Alex Federico and Ethan Penrith.
Standing at 200 cm, Harman debuted for Northern in the VFL late last year, while also playing three games in the Development competition.
He averaged over 20 hitouts per game for the Knights in the under-18 competition, and his ability to perform under duress and offer leadership despite his age have been features on the training track.
Both are eligible to play as the club’s 23rd man in season 2018, and further add to Northern’s exciting youthful brigade out to make an impact this year.
