As pre-season heats up on the eve of the new campaign, so does the competition for spots.

And the Northern Blues have confirmed a raft of re-signings as well as some new acquisitions ahead of the 2018 season.

Welcomed to the fold are Jason Kingsbury, Andrew Tyquin and Jason Williams.

Tyquin and Williams are familiar with one another, having spent three seasons at Digger’s Rest between 2014 and 2016 before Williams’ move to Keilor last year.

Key forward Williams featured for Northern in their VFL practice match last Wednesday, kicking two goals in the draw with Sandringham.

He’s a former player at Port Melbourne, having played for the Borough in their 2012 VFL Grand Final loss to Geelong, and was also a contestant on The Recruit.

Tyquin will add to the club’s half-back stocks, with the left-footer impressing over the pre-season following an 18-game season in the RDFL last year.

Kingsbury signs for Northern on the back of a prodigious 2017, which saw him win the MPFNL Nepean Football League Best & Fairest after a 32-goal season with the Frankston Bombers.

Along with the three new recruits are four Blues who are returning for the upcoming year: Carl Adams, Daniel Costanzo, Angus Milham and Harrison Payne.

Adams and Payne come back for their third seasons with Northern, while Costanzo and Milham will both spend their second years on the senior list.
