Knee soreness will sideline Ethan Penrith for this weekend’s game against Coburg.
The exciting first-year Blue went down with the injury in last week’s loss to Casey and didn’t finish out the game.
Northern Blues High Performance Manager Steven Tiricola said Penrith would hopefully be out of action for this weekend only.
It was a blow for the youngster, who had been in his best form for the year over the past month.
Since returning from the bye, Penrith was averaging over 15 disposals a game — an increase of four disposals per game — as well as four tackles.
His last full game saw him record 21 disposals, seven inside 50s and six tackles in the comprehensive win over Frankston.
In other injury news, Penrith’s former Northern Knights teammate Max Dreher is nearing a return after a frustrating debut year.
Tiricola is hopeful that setbacks to his fractured foot are now behind him, with a gradual return to action approaching in the next few weeks.
A lower back injury has also sidelined youngster Mitch Kemp for the last fortnight. The 19-year-old had been in impressive form for Andrew Walker’s Echuca, being named in the bests five times from 14 games.
