THE Northern Blues’ trio of new recruits are nearing returns to football.
In an extensive recruiting drive throughout the off-season, Northern welcomed AFL-listed recruits Kieran Collins, Alex Johnson and Jonathan O’Rourke.
After being unsighted throughout pre-season practice matches, High Performance Manager Steven Tiricola said the trio were making positive strides for a return.
Following a wretched run with injury, Tiricola said Johnson is nearing a return from his ACL injury.

Combining his coaching role with his focus on returning from injury, Johnson is well and truly on the comeback trail.
“‘AJ’ is really progressing from injury: his commitment to his rehabilitation has been first-class,” Tiricola said.
“He has recently integrated back into training and we’re hopeful to have him in around four to six weeks.”
It’s a similar story for Kieran Collins, with the key defender having an interrupted pre-season after arriving from the Western Bulldogs.
A foot injury will also hopefully see Collins return in a similar timeframe to Johnson.
The news is more positive for Jonathan O’Rourke, who was a latecomer to the Northern Blues before signing in February.
Tiricola said the VFL premiership Hawk is available for selection, having undergone a gradual build of his training load.
