Noah Wheeler is – officially – a Young Gun.
The first-year Blue will feature for the City side in tomorrow’s Young Guns exhibition match at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
The match is designed to showcase the best young talent across the VFL and NAB League in front of recruiters.
Following on from previous representatives Mason Blakey and Marcus Stavrou in years gone by, Wheeler will look to continue on from the positive signs shown in early life as a Blue.
Making his debut in the first game as 23rd player, Wheeler has played the opening three matches of the season for Northern, rotating his time between midfield and half-forward.
Averaging 12 disposals over his three games, the former Bendigo Pioneer celebrated his opening two matches with wins before kicking his maiden VFL goal last week.
Also taking part in the match is Sunny Brazier, who has been named on Northern’s rookie list for this season.
The exciting youngster, who has played the opening month of the season with the Northern Knights, showed promise in the pre-season practice matches for the Blues.
He has put together some strong numbers in the opening month for the Knights in the NAB League, averaging 18 disposals, 4.5 tackles and a goal a game.
The City v Country game commences at 9:30am from Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
