THE Northern Blues have named their squad for Sunday’s big heritage game against Coburg.
And one name stands out above the rest.
While he hasn’t been confirmed to play, Alex Johnson has been named on the extended bench for the clash with the Lions.
The new recruit could make his debut for his new club in what would be his first game back since last year’s ACL injury.
Johnson’s availability will be confirmed in line with the final team announcement on Sunday morning prior to the game.
However, one player who will definitely make his return to action is Tom De Koning, who will play his first VFL game for the season.
After sustaining a lateral ligament injury in his knee during pre-season, De Koning will hope to make up for lost time in a significant boost to Northern’s big men stocks.
De Koning will join Patrick Kerr as a key inclusion in the forward line, while Alex Fasolo and Matthew Kennedy also return to the VFL.
Josh Hill, Marcus Stavrou and Jean-Luc Velissaris have also been named on the extended bench as inclusions.
After making his Northern debut last week, Kieran Collins comes out of the side due to a shoulder injury picked up in the loss to Essendon.
Sunday’s game, which will mark the first time the Bullant has been worn in eight years, kicks off from 1pm at Preston City Oval.
Northern Blues members can enter the game for free.
Please note that Carlton Football Club members will not receive free entry, with this only applicable for Ikon Park games.
