THE Northern Blues’ biggest game of the season kicks off from 1pm.

The Blues host Footscray at Ikon Park, in an old-fashioned ‘eight-point game’ despite it only being midway through the season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Round 10 VFL clash.

Details: Ikon Park, Saturday 15 June, 1pm
Broadcast: The game will be live-streamed on the VFL website. The stream is available here.

After last week’s return to the winner’s list, today’s game against Footscray presents a big opportunity for the Blues to make advance up the VFL ladder.

With both teams sitting on five wins, the Dogs sits two spots above the Blues following their draw with Box Hill a month ago.

Should the Blues get a result, it will be their biggest scalp of the season — and the perfect way to enter next week’s mid-season bye.

After showing some of its best football last weekend, Northern will take the game to a Footscray outfit keen to bounce back after a one-point loss to Geelong in its last game.

Can Hugh Goddard do it again?

The key defender has been in scintillating VFL form since his arrival at Ikon Park in the off-season, and is a certainty to feature in Laurie Hill Trophy calculations come season’s end.

Goddard enjoyed arguably his best performance of the year last weekend, with 22 disposals and 12 marks to his name.

Today’s likely opponent is Josh Schache — it could be one of a number of game-defining match-ups.

It’s safe to say there’s no shortage of attacking options for Northern today.

With names like De Koning, Kerr, Palmer, Phillips and Silvagni all running around, the Blues will back themselves in the air if they can get some of the click ball movement from last week.

After 17 contested marks to two against Coburg last weekend, the tall timber will once again have to fire if the Blues are to record the four points.
