THE Northern Blues will be out to return to winning ways when it heads to Casey Fields today.
Looking for its first win at the venue in seven years, the Blues will feature 16 Carlton-listed players in its bid for an all-too-rare victory over today’s opponent.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Round 14 VFL clash.
Details: Casey Fields, Saturday 6 July, 2pm
Broadcast: The game will be live-streamed on the Carlton Youtube channel. The stream is available here.
THE GAME IN FOCUS:
On the back of consecutive losses at home, Northern will be hoping to recapture its early season form when it hits the road.
Fuelling the Blues’ hopes will be the wins over Geelong and Collingwood which came at the beginning of the season, where Northern entered enemy territory and recorded memorable wins.
With a spot in the top eight potentially at hand for the winners, there’s plenty to play for before the two AFL sides do battle tomorrow afternoon at the MCG.
This is big.

Can Northern’s midfielders get it done?
With the likes of Matthew Kennedy, Darcy Lang and Jack Silvagni all featuring in the AFL line-up, a makeshift Blues midfield will be tasked with getting the job done at the coalface.
Historically, Casey Fields has been a notorious place for the Blues to visit, and the Demons’ on-ballers have had the upper hand.
The onus will be on Matthew Lobbe and Andrew Phillips to get things going and for Josh Deluca and Sam Fisher to step up to the task.
GET EXCITED ABOUT:
Tom De Koning showed glimpses last weekend of his natural talent which Blues fans have been robbed of so far in 2019.
Returning last month following a knee injury, the second-year Blue stood tall in a number of contests last week, with his high-marking a feature.
If De Koning can fire up forward and in the ruck, the Blues are a much more dangerous task for the Demons to handle.
Should he get going alongside Alex Fasolo and Patrick Kerr, the Blues have the firepower to kick a winning score on the road.
