THE Northern Blues have welcomed back an injection of pace for Sunday’s trip to Box Hill City Oval.
After last week’s loss to minor premiers Richmond, the Blues will be hoping to bounce back and keep their season alive when they take on Box Hill away from home.
Returning to the fold are David Cuningham and Jarrod Garlett, who missed the clash against the Tigers due to injury and as carryover emergency respectively.
They will also be joined by fellow inclusion Darcy Lang, who has been omitted from the AFL line-up after featuring at senior level for the last month.
The AFL-listed trio will provide a big boost to Northern’s midfield and outside run stocks, to go with the three-ruck combination of Tom De Koning, Matthew Lobbe and Andrew Phillips.
At the coalface, Frank Anderson’s addition will bolster Northern, after the impressive midfielder was unavailable last weekend due to illness.
Mason Blakey, James El Moussalli, Chris McCabe and Noah Wheeler round out the inclusions on the extended bench.
Paddy Dow and Matthew Kennedy come from the VFL line-up after being selected for the AFL side, while Harrison Macreadie is out through injury.
Marcus Stavrou has been omitted.
The final team of 23 will be announced an hour before the game.
