OSKAR Manton will make his Northern Blues debut this weekend.
The son of former Carlton 157-gamer Glenn, the second-generation Manton has been named as 23rd player for the final game of the VFL season.
The youngster has been rewarded for strong local form for Williamstown CYMS in the under-19 VAFA competition, where he has been named among the best players 11 times from 16 games.
Named on the supplementary list for the Blues at the beginning of the year, Manton won’t have to look far for players in a similar position when he lines up down back.
He will join Ben Silvagni (father, grandfather), Matthew Cottrell (grandfather) and Kye Quirk (grandfather) who all had previous generations wear the Navy Blue at AFL level.
Manton is one of a number of VFL-listed inclusions to the line-up to take on Sandringham this weekend.
Joining him are Mason Blakey, Chris McCabe and Kane Keppel, who have all been named on the extended bench for Sunday’s clash with the Zebras.
The final team will be announced two hours prior to the game, which will kick off at Preston City Oval at 1pm.
The solitary exclusion from the side is David Cuningham, who was rewarded for his strong outing last weekend with a spot in the AFL side for the trip to Geelong.
