Year one at the Northern Blues saw Josh Hill roar home with an outstanding finish to the season – and in an unfamiliar role. Despite over 200 goals at the elite level, a shift to the half-back line saw Hill become one of Northern’s prime movers in 2018, intercepting and rebounding at will in the second half of the year. With a number of standout performances seeing him surge onto the Laurie Hill Trophy podium, 2018 proved you can teach an old Dog new tricks. And if he can consistently produce the form he showed in the back-end of the year, Hill will have a big say in the Northern Blues’ fortunes.
